Contrast sensitivity in amblyopia due to stimulus deprivation DENNIS

چکیده

Contrast sensitivity functions for sinusoidal gratings of varying spatial frequency and stimulus duration were determined for both eyes of 2 patients with amblyopia due to early occlusion and lid closure. The amblyopic eyes showed reduced contrast sensitivity over a wide range of spatial frequencies and stimulus durations, and the temporal integration time of the amblyopic eye was increased by comparison with the non-amblyopic eye at high spatial frequencies. When the gratings were flickered at 10 Hz the sensitivity for both flicker and pattern detection was reduced in the amblyopic eye over the entire spatial frequency range. Abnormal flicker perception by the amblyopic eyes was also evident in the reduced photopic luminosity functions ofthese patients.

Advanced Analysis of PRVEP in Anisometropic Amblyopia

Introduction: to identify the pattern-reversal visual evoked potential (PRVEP) waveform descriptor by evaluating discrete wavelet transform (DWT) in order to optimize stimulus in the diagnosis of anisometropia amblyopia. Materials and Methods: The PRVEP testing was performedfor 31 normal individuals and 35 patients with amblyopia. The stimuli were consisted of spatial frequencies of 1, 2, and 4...

A residual deficit for global motion processing after acuity recovery in deprivation amblyopia.

PURPOSE In a case of bilateral deprivation amblyopia due to congenital cataracts, the global motion sensitivity for stimuli that were well within the passband of the amblyopic visual system were assessed. METHODS A stochastic global motion stimulus was used, comprising spatially narrow elements with varied spatial frequency, density, contrast, and area distribution. To determine threshold, a ...

Psychophysical investigations of the temporal modulation sensitivity function in amblyopia: spatiotemporal interactions.

Temporal modulation sensitivity functions were measured in response to counterphase sine-wave gratings of various spatial frequencies in seven strabismic and/or anisometropic amblyopes and in two stimulus-deprivation amblyopes. Both movement/flicker and pattern detection thresholds were determined. Strabismic and/or anisometropic amblyopes showed reduced sensitivity for movement/flicker and pat...

Psychophysical investigations of the temporal modulation sensitivity function in amblyopia: uniform field flicker.

The temporal modulation sensitivity function was studied in eight strabismic and/or anisometropic amblyopes and in two subjects with amblyopia resulting from monocular stimulus deprivation (cataract and ptosis). Half of the strabismic/anisometropic amblyopes showed a reduction in the sensitivity of the amblyopic eye. These differences were more marked at low and middle temporal frequencies. Two...
